BEING a star means that you need to have equal amounts of talent and personality. The former becomes evident during performances, while the latter is something that comes naturally, on- and off-stage.
This is why veteran beauty expert Tony Galvez believes that in as much as celebrities constantly honing their skills; they should highlight their personalities as well. “Sadly here in our country, we often sell a celebrity’s ‘face’ and not highlight his or her personality,” he says.
Galvez, who has been in the beauty industry for decades, recently gave the finalists of the “Lineage 2 Game Girls” search a total makeover. The competition, which combines the format of a beauty pageant and a talent search, seeks to look for five girls who will make up the next hottest female singing group in the country.
“They always use the term ‘from head to foot’ and not the other way around. And that is so because it really starts with the hair,” Galvez says, adding that that usually the transformation starts when people are given a new hairstyle. For the Lineage ladies, Galvez emphasizes the importance of “accentuating” instead of changing the girls’ personalities. He says that this is why he first considered the girls’ height, body shape and how they walk and carry themselves before considering what hairstyle works best for them.
The five ladies who will be chosen as “Lineage 2 Game Girls” will win a recording and talent management contact from Sony BMG and a stake at stardom, aside from many other wonderful prizes that come with winning.
